My Journey Back to Shizuoka Tea

I was born and raised in Shizuoka, Japan — a place deeply connected to the tradition and craftsmanship of Japanese green tea. I grew up surrounded by tea culture. Today, I share the authentic taste of my hometown with tea lover across Canada.

For generations, Shizuoka has been one of Japan’s most respected tea-growing regions, where tea farmers dedicate their lives to cultivating leaves with care, patience, and pride. Growing up there, tea was not simply a beverage; it was a natural part of everyday life and a meaningful connection to family, community, and tradition.

The aroma of freshly brewed tea, the quiet moments shared over a cup, and the respect shown toward the people who create it have always been part of my memories.

After moving to Canada, I built a new life while embracing a different culture. Living away from my birthplace allowed me to see my roots from a new perspective and appreciate the beauty of the traditions I grew up with.

Over time, I felt a strong desire to reconnect with Japanese tea and share the culture that has always been a part of me. This journey inspired me to create Hasegawa Trading Co.

Through trusted relationships with tea producers in Shizuoka, my goal is to bring authentic Japanese tea to Canada while honoring the craftsmanship, heritage, and passion behind every leaf.

Each tea we offer carries a story — the dedication of the farmers, the knowledge passed down through generations, and the unique character of the region where it was grown.

For me, Hasegawa Trading Co. is more than a tea business. It is a bridge between Shizuoka and Canada, sharing a tradition that has shaped my life and allowing others to experience the true essence of Japanese tea culture.

I hope every cup brings a moment of connection, calm, and appreciation for the people, traditions, and stories behind Japanese tea.
